Newly-renovated luxury resort with 2 beaches, closest oceanfront rooms in Hawaii – Looking better than ever after its recent upgrade, and toting a brand new AAA 4-Diamond Award, this luxury resort occupies 22 landscaped acres on the shores of South Maui, between 2 crescent-shaped beaches and at the foot Mt. Haleakala’s volcanic slopes. Oceanfront accommodations here are the closest to the water on the island. A walking path connects to The Shops at Wailea.

Accommodations: Spacious and sophisticated, the guest rooms and suites are appointed with light tones, abstract art, tile floors, and stylish wood and wicker furnishings. The majority of rooms open onto private furnished lanais. TIP: The Oceanfront rooms in Hale 2 and Hale 3 are the closest to the ocean. Baths have adjoining dressing areas with marble vanities. The king and paired double beds are swathed in 300-thread-count linens, comfy duvets, and the other plush features of Marriott’s Revive bedding. Air-conditioning, satellite TV, on-demand movies, phones, internet access, in-room safes, coffee makers, hairdryers, bathrobes, and irons/ironing boards are among the room amenities. All rooms are nonsmoking.

Dining & Entertainment: Mala Wailea is the main restaurant, open for breakfast and dinner and offering oceanfront dining with a menu of regional cuisine. It also has an adjoining lounge with a full bar and an appetizer menu. For lunch, the poolside Kumu Bar & Grill serves casual meals. Hula and torch-lighting ceremonies are a nightly occurrence, and the Honua Ula Luau Dinner Show is the most popular luau on the island, boasting a lavish buffet, open bar, traditional chants and music, and a 3-time world champion fire-knife dancer. A 200-foot walkway leads to The Shops at Wailea, a mall where you’ll find several other restaurants, including Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Cafe, as well as a myriad of shopping opportunities.

Recreation: With 5 pools, 3 waterslides, 2 whirlpools, and of course, the pair of crescent-shaped beaches, when it’s time to play, this is arguably the best resort on the island. Kids have a water playground while guests over 18 years of age can unwind at the Serenity pool. You’ll have preferred tee times at 3 nearby golf courses. The Mandara Spa has 11 treatment rooms and utilizes natural ingredients like kona coffee and papaya in treatments. Other diversions include the fitness center, horseback riding, a coastal trail for jogging and hiking, volleyball, and water sports like snorkeling and surfing.
