This chic, Mediterranean-style, all-suite resort sits among a landscape of lagoon pools, cascading waterfalls, and lush gardens. It fronts Maxwell Beach, where cream-colored sand meets the emerald sea. The 138 suites are in three 3- and 4-story buildings that are centrally located on the cool, southern coast of Barbados. Floral prints, rattan furnishings, and tile floors speak "Caribbean." The room categories are studio, deluxe studio, 1-bedroom suite, 1-bedroom deluxe suite, 1-bedroom penthouse, 2-bedroom deluxe suite, and 2-bedroom beachfront luxury suite. They all have a kitchen or kitchenette; a private balcony or terrace with an ocean, pool, or garden view; air-conditioning; a ceiling fan; and cable TV. Some have a living/dining room. Sleep on a king-size, queen-size, or double bed. Some suites also have a pullout sofa.
Start your day seaside at Lanterns by the Sea. The breakfast buffet has delicious fruits, tempting pastries, and hearty hot dishes. You'll like the restaurant so much that you'll come back for lunch and dinner. Feel free to order a vegetarian meal, and there's a children's menu. On Monday nights, the hotel throws a rum-punch party, then you can indulge at the special barbeque buffet and keep time to the rhythms of the steel band. On Thursday evenings, it's a Caribbean buffet and a floor show, including dancing, fire eating, and limbo performances. A more intimate and elegant dining experience awaits at Water's Edge. The resort has 2 free-form swimming pools, a lap pool, and 2 wading pools. Order an icy cocktail from the swim-up bar.
